Sewing Project- Fabric Book Cover for my Bible

So i'm slowly going down my "Craft-TO MAKE" list and completing all the crafts i've been wanting to make. Making a nice cover for my Bible was one of them and i've been really looking forward to using this lovely damask fabric! the red satin lining is leftover fabric from my bridesmaid's dresses (07-08-06:) I found a website that had a pretty simple tutorial, you can find it HERE . I did a few adjustments to the measurements and added about 3 inches total to the inside flaps (about 1.5inches to what the instructions asked for). Adding to the flaps created a nice spot for keeping my notes from falling out of my Bible! I have to admit that i screwed up the first time i sewed it, because i measured wrong and it turned out too small and i had to resew the whole cover from scratch! Safe to say i learned a lesson on this one and think next time around will take me only one time to make! Needless to say i am quite proud of this one! its so pretty!

My own little craft corner... for now...

Since we possibly might be moving in the next month or so i dont really have a craft room but i've been utilizing the end of our kitchen table! the lovely $5 sewing machine that my mama got me from the GW has been good to me! no problems yet and i love it! The framed fabric is from a little project that i did not too long ago! i did a few adjustments of my own but you can find some simple instructions here on this lovely ladies blog: (ooooops i guess i cant find the link for now- will add that as soon as i find it!) but its super easy- the frames were from the dollar tree that i painted white with acrylic paint, wrapped the fabric around the back peice, and hot glue gunned some home made hooks cuz these didnt come with pre-attached ones and viola! all the lovely fabrics that i have so far used to make baby blankets or porjects are displayed for color and future inspiration!

Lovely DIY storage boxes

Tools needed:
Empty diaper boxes
White acrylic paint
Paint brush
Pretty scrapbooking paper or fabric ( I used the paper for this one)
Embellishment/craft glue/glue stick.
Scissors
Pen or pencil

Started by painting three sides white to keep the look streamline
and to hide the ugly green and purple of the boxes! :)

This was the lovely color combo choice for me! i fell in love
with this top print the moment i saw it and went from
there when choosing the rest of the paper!

folded over the edges aligned with the front of box.
traced the hole from inside the box and made cuts in
it so that i could fold it in and give it a clean look.

Used the glue stick to attach the pretty paper to the front of the box, then glued down the inch or so of the edges over on the sides and top.

So this is what the finished product is supposed to look like! i added a square of paper behind the hole to cover up the yucky cardboard and made a lovely label!

Still need to finish covering up the cardboard on these boxes and attaching the labels, but i'm waiting until i find some pretty ribbon, i decided i wanted ribbon! lol! :) something PINK!

BTW- this is my pantry- working on getting it organized this week! Will post a final pic soon! And also this is my first attempt at a "tutorial" not really gonna call it that since it was very brief... and i hope u get the idea.... :) so what do u think?

BTW here is a site that i came across for a little different technique for making your own pretty pretty storage boxes! i believe she used fabric and mod podge in her project- its super cute and you can find insturctions for that: here.
